Yet another fancy program for your desktop – this time in Mac style

ObjectDock is a desktop dock for having your bookmarks, shortcuts and open windows, much like the one for Mac. It’s really nice, it’s working fine and got good effects You can easily drag and drop programs and shortcuts to it, and it also got some gadgets, such as weather and clock. There’s even a shortcut to the start menu if you want to replace your taskbar. Then you can select from a lot of themes to use, and there’s more on the web to download.

ObjectDock is in a free (not trial) and paid version, where the free have all the basics, but can’t contain open windows. In the paid version, you also get more effects, you can have more than one dock and you can have tabbed docks.

DVDStyler

If you need a easy and free DVD video program, this is what you need. DVDStyler is a very easy program, where you can take video files and make menus and titles, with a very few clicks. There’s three tabs: Directories, where you can import video and images, Backgrounds, where you can add some of the built in backgrounds to your title, and buttons, where you can add buttons and text. When making menus in the DVD, you can just click to make text, buttons, and even a small screen that shows a video clip. In the bottom, you can see the titles and video clips in your video. When you’re done, you can directly from the program burn it to a DVD, or just make a .iso file. This is perfect if you have some video files on your computer which you want on a DVD, and then it’s completely free

This blog has now been online for over a month, and I think it had a really good start and there’s been some great software articles, but from now on I’ll no longer update it daily, but only when I have something to write about. It’ll still be updated quite often, but not daily.

CPU-Z is a nice small program that simply shows you all information you’ll need about your CPU, RAM and graphics card. It’s perfect if you want to get new hardware in your computer, if you have problems with your computer, and are going to post it’s specs on a forum, or if you just are interested in what hardware’s in your computer. It can also tell how overclocked your computer is

The program is divided into 6 tabs: the CPU tab is about your CPU, where you can see manufactor and model, clocks, cache, cores and more. Next tab is about the cache. Then the mainboard, BIOS and graphic interface. The fourth is the memory, with its type and size. Next it’s more about the memory, and last tab is justabout the program.

Can become handy, and the best part is that it’s free, and doesn’t need to be installed download it here

MiniMIZE

When you minimize a program, it’s displayed in your taskbar, and when you have a lot of programs, your taskbar is easily filled up, and your programs are hard to find. Here’s the solution for that; MiniMIZE. This program minimizes your programs to a little window on your desktop and removes it from your task list, so that you only have non-minimized programs on your task list.

This is the small windows it creates on your desktop, and it’s much easier finding your program here than in the taskbar. You can just move them around on your desktop, and double click to bring it up again. There’s also functions to set keyboard shortcuts for minimizing all windows, and quickly bring the minimized windows on top.

The program is still in beta, but it’s fully functional and bug free

On Mozillas addon page, you can download addons for Firefox, made by the users. Here’s a lot of useful, and sometimes not useful but just funny, addons. For example, there’s an addon to see live preview of the webpage when holding the mouse over a tab, or one that but the loading in the adress field in Vista style. There’s also some guides to how to develop your own addons for Firefox, but that’s only if you have programming skills. Still, here’s any kind of creative addons, so just take a look around

Damn Small Linux

Damn Small Linux (or DSL) is a tiny fully-functional Linux-based operating system. It’s made to work on any computer no matter how old they are (though there of course is a limit), and is supposed to be run from a USB pen. It’s only 50 MB, so it should also fit on most USBs. You have to make your USB bootable and have your bios upgraded to could boot from USB, but when that is done you just have to copy the OS to your USB pen and boot from it, and it’s ready to use.

DSL have all basic application you’ll need pre-installed. It comes with 3 browsers, e-mail program, word processor, picture viewer/editor, instant messaging, internet phone, text editor, spreadsheet, PDF reader, file system and a lot of other applications. Then you can still install other programs to it.

This is the interface in DSL. You can’t even see that it’s a damn small OS

RealDesktop

RealDesktop is a whole new way to use your computers desktop. Instead of the old flat desktop, this makes your desktop a 3D room, where all your icons are flat cubes. The funny thing is that you can take up your icons and throw them around and into each other and see the icons fly around. You can also select more icons and move them at the same time. It’s very nice to play around with when you are bored

Here’s a screenshot of the the desktop. As you can see, the recycle bin is a big can, where you can put your files into if you want to delete them. RealDesktop exists in a free and standard version. The free has everything I’ve told about, while the standard has some more functions and costs $26.

HP Smart Web Printing

This nice little free program from HP allows you to easily print out the part of a website you want. You just click on the part of the website you want or drag a area on the website, and when you have some areas selected, you got a page you can align them on as you want, and then print it out or save it as a pdf file. It’s very useful on website with a lot of ads, when it’s only a little bit of the page you want or some small areas at different places on the website and when the website prints out wrong. The only thing is just that it only work in Internet Explorer.

Then it’s an addon, meaning that it isn’t a program you’ll have to start up every time you want to use it. You just click the little icon on your toolbar, and drag a rectangle around the area you want. A little menu asks if you want to print it directly or save it in the programs clipboard, to set up on a page with other stuff from the website.

Some Changes

You’ve probably noticed some changes here. I’ve got a new cool theme for the blog, with a new banner, logo and my avatar’s even updated

There’s also come sub-pages, About, Software Downloads and Websites. The first page is just a little text about me and my blog, Software Downloads is a list of all software I’ve written about, with download link. Websites is links to nice websites, which has replaced my links widget to the right. The only new widget is Blog Stats, showing how many visits my blog has.

But in general the blog’s still the same. I’ll post about software, hardware or what else I have to come up with, and it’s still daily updated. Thanks for reading, feel free to comment on the new design
